The 10th National Festival of Productivity aiming to promote the culture of productivity management and enhance the competitiveness of economic enterprises by honoring managers of top Iranian companies was held on March 11, 2019, with participation of more than 1,000 top Iranian companies in 47 categories at Iran Mall’s Permanent Center for the International Exhibition and Trade Events.

According to Iran Mall Exhibition Center, President of the ‘Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture’ Masoud Khansari during his speech on the necessity of promoting productivity for economic development said that, "It is impossible to achieve productivity without creating and strengthening a competitiveness, reduction of government intervention, and liberalization".

Pointing out that the productivity index of all factors of production was close to zero at least in the period between 2005 and 2016 and had no role in economic growth of the country, he added that, “There is no reason to increase productivity in the Iranian economy as there is no trace of competitiveness”.

Laying stress on the need to improve productivity at the end of his speech, the President of the ‘Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture’ said that, "Given the severe shortage of resources in today's both developed and developing economies, the increase in productivity which is an indispensable necessity cannot be achieved unless competitiveness is strengthened, and the competition is the result of diminishing the government intervention and promoting liberalization".

Pointing to the fact that the country’s economic enterprises was stuck in the traditional sense of management, Vice President of ‘Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture’ Pedram Soltani stated that, “Conditions should be provided for top-level economic enterprises to take transparency into consideration at both the macro and micro levels”.

"One of the major problems in the country's economic enterprises is the lack of measurability at different economic levels and in the culture of the country. Our economic enterprises do not adjust their behavior on the basis of quantity, number, calculation and comparison. Most advanced economic enterprises throughout the world are taking advantage of the developments of the industrial revolutions to continue their growth, but we have remained in the traditional sense of management”, he emphasized.

Following the event, the judging process of the festival was conducted online by approximately 6,800 experts in the related industry, the results of which were announced subsequent to the meeting of the Scientific Committee and its final approval.

Pointing to the ten rounds of this national festival at the end of the event, Secretary of the National Festival of Productivity Farshid Shokr Khodaei said, “The significance of this event lies in the fact that we have assessed the productivity indices of thousands of companies for free over the last few years and provided the companies with them; in addition, we have documented about one thousand successful business experiences thus far by holding the national competition of successful experiences”.
