The Public Conference on Cancer Control and Prevention hosted by Iran’s Cancer Control Center (ICCC) was held on January 25, 2019, with the participation of more than 700 cancer survivors at Iran Mall’s Permanent Center for the International Exhibition and Trade Events.

According to Iran Mall Exhibition Center, shortly before the conference, on January 7, 2019, the chairman of the board of directors at Tat Charity Foundation, among the directors and members of the organizing staff of Public Conference on Cancer Control and Prevention, said, “I immediately agreed with Head of Iran’s Cancer Research Center Prof. Mohammad Esmaeil Akbari, who is the director of Iran’s Comprehensive Cancer Control Center in District 22, as I am of the opinion that helping to prevent an overwhelmingly high incidence of cancer is to save lives, which cannot be measured by any material criteria”.

"The spread of various cancers, according to official statistics, raises concerns and consequently the duty of all people, especially the generous benefactors, is to get as far as possible into the field of raising public awareness, reducing its growth and helping to cure patients," he added.

Describing the popular movement of cancer prevention as a humanitarian and philanthropic act, and also announcing that the costs of holding a conference under the same title would be fully borne by Iran’s Comprehensive Cancer Control Center in District 22, he added, “I hope that the presence of the patients cured of cancer and their prayers will be a good and godly act on the eve of the launch of Iran Mall complex”.

Prior to the speech by the chairman of the board of directors at Tat Charity Foundation, Secretary of the Conference on Cancer Prevention and Control Dr. Ghasem Akbari presented a report on popularization of the prevention campaign as well as outlined this week’s programs, adding that, " One of the highlights of this week's program is the scientific approach, the integration of psychology, and the growing awareness of people about cancer through specific methods, including presenting books and sharing experiences of overcoming the disease by the people cured of cancer”.
